HBCU Homecoming season brings with the excitement of reconnecting with old friends, attending unforgettable events, and cheering on your alma mater’s football team. From now until mid-November, campuses will be buzzing with energy as tailgates, parties, and live performances set the scene for one of the biggest cultural celebrations in the Black community.

Here are the top HBCU homecomings that you don’t want to miss!

1. North Carolina A&T State University (GHOE)
North Carolina A&T’s homecoming, often called the “Greatest Homecoming on Earth” (GHOE), lives up to its name. Each year, tens of thousands of people flood Greensboro to experience a week filled with concerts, tailgates, and a packed football stadium. With past performances by the likes of Cardi B and Drake and a Homecoming Hip Hop Concert this year featuring Latto, Bryson Tiller, BossMan Dlow, Mariah the Scientist, and Rob4 hosted by Desi Banks, it’s easy to see why GHOE is more than a homecoming—it’s a cultural phenomenon. And with an economic impact of over $10 million in 2021 alone, it’s easy to see why this celebration is legendary. 2. SpelHouse (Spelman College and Morehouse College)
Atlanta comes alive every fall for SpelHouse, the joint homecoming of Spelman College and Morehouse College. This event has become a citywide celebration, drawing over 30,000 attendees. Spelhouse thrives off southern hospitality and exceptional tent experiences that often include big-name sponsors like STARZ and AT&T Dream In Black, bringing celebs to the yard to connect with alumni. Between that, the step shows, the football game, and the unforgettable parties, SpelHouse delivers a world-class experience that keeps alumni and locals coming back year after year.

3. Florida A&M University (FAMU)
Known for its powerful performances and HBCU pride on the highest of seven hills FAMU’s homecoming is where the music and community take center stage. The world-famous Marching 100 band delivers high-energy shows that captivate the crowd as they enjoy food, fellowship, and fun while repping the home of the Rattlers. Every year   Tallahassee turns orange and green amid popping parties and concerts. It’s no wonder FAMU’s homecoming is considered one of the best. Whether you’re a Rattler or just love great music and great vibes, FAMU’s homecoming is not to be missed.

4. Tuskegee University 
Every year, Tuskegee Alabama is flooded with alumni, family, and friends who “ball and parlay” at one of the most pride-filled homecomings around. Tuskegee University is known for pulling out all the stops as grads flock to Abott Stadium to cheer on their team. This year for its 100th Homecoming, Tuskegee is having a weeklong celebration from November 3-10, 2024. The undeniable highlight however is the tailgate that features RVs, stunning Greek plots, and sweet southern hospitality from alumni giving homecoming hugs.

5.) Hampton University 
It’s time to rock the blue and white! 
From stunning waterfront views to world-class entertainment and a strong sense of tradition after obtaining an education for life, Hampton University’s Homecoming is unlike any other.
Every year, proud Hamptonians, their family, and friends come to their home by the sea for a weekend packed with fun and nostalgia. This year Armstrong Stadium, the student center, and Strawberry Banks will be home to elite experiences and performances like the “Biggest Block Party Ever” featuring Bun B and “The Escape” featuring performances by Tamia, Rick Ross, Midnight Star, and Doug E.
